BOMDILA, Apr 4: In order to expedite the ongoing road construction works on BCT and OKSRT roads, DC cum DM West Kameng district Dr Sonal Swaroop chaired a meeting with CO 14 BRTF today.
Expressing her dissatisfaction and dismay over pace of works and only six machines deployed and few teams on road, DC sought the progress of works.
CO 14 BRTF informed that substantial works including excavation, re-alignment, retaining and breast wall construction have been completed. Around 18-20 machines have been deployed for road cutting works and even WBM has been started in few stretches to which DC Sonal asked the location of all 20 machines to be shared.
On OKSRT road, DC pointed out that certain bridges are in completely worn out state and road submergence has taken place at several places. CO informed that except for Rupa and Gacham Bridge, rest all bridges would be completed by December 2018 and road stabilisation works have been started in Rupa and Kalaktang.
As monsoons have begun DC highlighted and pressed upon the issue of massive landslide, shooting stone, and muck blockade on BCT road making it difficult for commuters as experienced previous year. She further deliberated on positioning of Rapid Action Team of BRO at all vulnerable points on BCT and OKSRT.
After detailed discussion, it was decided that one dozer would be placed at Rupa-Jigaon and Kalaktang each for OKSRT, one JCB shall be placed at every 40km or near to vulnerable spot on BCT as preliminary reaction to landslides at vulnerable locations.
One dozer on wheels shall be placed at Balemu, Tenga and Tippi as second reaction team. Further as Third response team, 20 tonne Excavator along with Trailer will be available at Tippi/Elephant, Dahung and Balemu and Kalaktang.
Regarding communication on blockade DC asked CO 14 BRTF to ensure that both OC 127 and OC 91 RCC are available 24*7 on mobile and exchange numbers be kept fully operational and also given wide publicity.CO 14 BRTF added that in addition to mobile and exchange numbers, information through radio sets is also exchanged for entire sector on hourly basis and that all communication line shall be open including his own mobile.
Many commuters and tourist are finding the road blockade timing inconvenient given the onset of monsoon and vulnerability of road therefore DC also reviewed the road blockade timings and finally decided to re-fix the time keeping in mind the problem faced by the commuters as well as the daylight working requirement of BRTF in order to complete the work on this strategic route. The new timings will come into effect from 1 May onwards.
DC also reviewed the status of compensation disbursal to villagers as well as for utilities shifting on Bomdila by-pass and km 88-99 which is hindering the works. With a positive and affirmative tone, CO 14 BRTF informed that the same is under progress and should be done in next two months.
