PALIN, Sep 25: Deputy Commissioner Kra Daadi, Bengia Nighee chaired a coordination meeting on proper implementation of 'Nal Jal Mitra' scheme on Thursday.
Addressing the house, the DC exhorted them to work in tandem for the success of the scheme. Rido Tarak, PD cum DPDO and Charu Sakap, PHED EE Palin both gave an overview of the scheme. The scheme was being implemented in a very democratic manner to achieve 100 per cent saturation of tap water connection without any discrimination, the officials said. 
Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) is a flagship programme of the central government to provide potable water to every households functional tap connection with a mission to improve the lives of the people by providing safe drinking water to every house.
After going through the status report, the Deputy Commissioner informed that after providing potable water tap connections directly from the Water Treatment Plant (WTP), the PHED was now implementing “Nal Jal Mitra Scheme” under JJM. The Village Water Sanitation Committees (VWSC) of the respective villages have to carry out necessary maintenance works in future by appointing skilled plumbers/labourers from their own. He exhorted all the GPCs present to ensure that VWSC is formed in all the villages and their bank accounts are active. 
ZPC Charu Menia appealed to the department heads to ensure that panchayat leaders are also kept in the loop regarding any development about the scheme. DIPRO
