BOMDILA, Jul 26: Taking cognizance of the complaints of the Government College students body and the inordinate delay in completion and commencement of classes in the new building site of the Government College Bomdila (GCB) at Wanghoo village near the district headquarters Bomdila, Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop accompanied with the Principal GCB, Engineers from RWD, PWD, PHED, Power (Elect) and UD&H inspected the construction site early this morning.
The students’ body complained of the deplorable condition of the college road which has resulted due to the plying of heavy BRO vehicles and movement of machineries without caring for its maintenance over the last five years.
The physical progress of the residential quarters, Library, fencing wall along with the inner approach roads are forty percent completed. However, with the heavy rains, the area has become highly vulnerable landslide zone.
Though sanction for the remaining civil works was sanctioned in the month of March, works couldn’t be taken up due to the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct. As informed to the DC, process has been initiated for floating of the NIT.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner had written to the CE Vartak, BRTF, to consider maintaining the College road for the particular stretch that has been massively damaged due to the machineries used for the Bomdila by-pass road construction by the BRTF.
The District Administration had also time and again written to the CO 14 BRTF for the same but the desired action is still awaited.
In the process of the inspection, DC Sonal expressed her reservations over the incomplete and inappropriate drainage system being carried out under SIDF.
However, the DC expressed her satisfaction over the progress of works being carried out by PHED and Power (Elect) which hopefully would be completed within two months time.
