PANGIN, Jun 18:A district level coordination meeting for Education department of Siang district was today held at DC conference hall, Pangin under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rahul Singh and attended by DDSE Tanyong Tatak, all district level and block level coordinators, Block Education Officers (BEOs), BRCCs, other block level functionaries and staff from education department.

Addressing the participants, the DC stated that the poor performance of the students in the recently concluded board examination was a cause of extreme concern and there was a serious need to improve the educational standard in the district. Terming it as a failure of both teachers and parents, he stated that this necessitated a review of the whole scenario and adoption of a rigorous action plan for which the meeting was called. 

He directed all concerned block education officers to take up weekly unannounced surprise inspections of all schools at their level and to identify good schools and poor schools on the basis of teachers attendance and students performance as indicators. They were directed to compulsorily make entries in the visitors register after undertaking such inspections. He directed for conducting of an internal test every 15 days in all schools to assess the level of performance of the students and also directed for holding of extra classes for all the poor performing students. 

Directing for strict utilisation of the biometric machines which were distributed to all secondary and senior secondary schools in the district,  he also directed all concerned for meticulous maintenance of data base at all block levels including precise details on parent-teacher ratio, enrolment ratio, drop out ratio etc and for furnishing and entry of accurate data. He also instructed all block level functionaries to ensure availability of new books,  utensils etc in all schools at their level and also ensure proper implementation of mid day meal scheme. He gave strong emphasis on holding of regular parent teacher meetings for better coordination and for ensuring a healthy environment for the student to learn and first conducting programmes with renowned and accomplished persons as resource persons in order to motivate the students, teachers and parents alike. He directed all concerned to reflect all these points in their monthly progress report which was to be submitted to the DC without fail.

Stating that good work would be recognised and rewarded, he warned of strict action against those neglecting their duties and responsibilities. 

The DDSE gave an update about all the recent activities taken up by the department and also informed the gathering about new developments in the field.
