DAPORIJO, Dec 4: Deputy Commissioner, Danish Ashraf, convened a meeting with the proprietors of all the gas agencies and fuel depots operating in the district to hammer out fire prevention measures.
Citing leakage of gas cylinders as the main cause of recent fire accident at Abotani colony on November 27 last, he cautioned all the gas agencies to check leakage in cylinders before issuing it to consumers. He also directed the Town Magistrate and OC, PS to conduct frequent checking for illegal stocking of gas cylinders.
The Executive Engineer, Electrical was also ordered to immediately rectify all the sagging HT/LT lines in the Township area to facilitate movement of fire brigade during fire accidents and to ensure that there is no illegal hooking of electricity.

In the interest of public service, all the gas agencies were directed to start home delivery service of gas cylinders effective from the January.

“ All the safety measure as prescribed should be followed strictly and necessary safety precautions must be adopted by gas agencies, fuel stations and commercial establishments while providing public service, the DC advised.
He warned that all defaulters who are putting public life at risk will be strictly dealt with as per relevant provisions of law and Trading Licenses will be cancelled if deemed necessary.
