PASIGHAT, Jul 4:  A co-ordination meeting of Headmasters and Principals of Govt. Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, East Siang District, Tamiyo Tatak on Monday in the conference hall of DC office Pasighat.

Many important issues pertaining to qualitative improvement of education including analysis of last 2 years CBSE result was taken up during the daylong meeting. Issues like games & sports, literary activities, class wise daily attendance, compulsory 75% attendances as per CBSE Bylaws, were discussed in length.

While participating in the discussions most of the Principals attributed the low percentage of class XII result to the withdrawal of grace marks by CBSE. The Principal Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Borguli B. Yirang said that, the non-creation and non-posting of PGT were the main reason for bad result of his school. While the low percentage in class X was attributed to awarding of proper and accurate awarding of marks as per the performance of student in FA-I & FA-II which was justified by all the principals and Headmasters for maintaining the quality. Some of the reasons pointed by them are lack of subject teachers, lack of awareness and carelessness of parents and low quality of students coming from feeder schools due to No Detention Policy. Most of the participating members were of the view that, the root of the law quality is absence of Pre-Primary classes in the schools and until & unless this issue is taken care of the quality cannot be expected.

While participating in the discussion DDSE Jongge Yirang informed that, No Detention Policy is under process of review and Govt. Of Arunachal Pradesh is actively taking up the matter with MHRD for replacement with the previous system. The annual increment is also being taken up for linking with the performance of teachers for which external examination will be a tool to assess the performance of schools as well as the teachers.

After marathon discussion, resolutions like ‘to ascertain the performance of feeder schools, subject wise class IX and class XII will be analysed along with the CBSE result, all the schools will uniformly maintain Class wise and subject wise attendance minimum 75% attendance as per the CBSE bylaws, to ease the over crowd of students some of the feeder schools has been relocated, for academic support and monitoring of feeder schools the Principals and Headmasters will constitute a committee for their respective feeder schools, so that close co-ordinations efforts can be extended to the schools in their areas of weaknesses’ etc were adopted.

While, Tamiyo Tatak, Deputy Commissioner East Siang in his Chairmanship speech requested all the Principals and Headmasters to work in close co-ordination with the District Administration. He requested them to remove the barrier of self ego while discharging Govt. duties and told them that DDSE act as the co-ordinator of schools and the District Administration.
