KHONSA, Jul 13: Taking note of the unauthorized excessive and rampant selling of IMFL and Beer  in pan shops, hotels and intake of liquor in abandoned buildings by teenagers in Tirap district, a meeting  was convened by Deputy Commissioner Tirap PN Thungon here today.

The DC urged the IMFL licensee and salesmen of the district to abide by Arunachal Pradesh Excise Act and Rule, while conducting their business. He urged the licensees to install CCTV cameras in their respective outlets compulsorily within Augus t 13, as a  security measure. The DC suggested salesmen to restrict sale of liquor/beer to children below 21 years and to maintain dry days notified by the government under department of Tax & Excise.

While emphasizing on importance of education, the DC said that due to rampant addiction to alcohol/kaani in the region school going children are spoiling their life  for which parents need to play a pivotal role to keep vigil on their children and guide them properly.

Pointing to the literacy rate among Apatani/ Sherdukpen communities, the DC said that Tirap district is lagging behind in education sector due to addiction to alcohol/ kaani and drugs etc.  The DC asked the IMFL Licensees to cooperate with the District Administration and Excise department in following the Excise Act and Rules and cautioned stringent legal action in case of any violation.

Superintendent, Tax & Excise, Khonsa, Monica Lowang Medam urged the licensees and managers to strictly abide by the Excise Act and Rules. She also urged them to maintain accounts of daily transaction as per the Excise Act. The meeting was attended by all licensees of IMFL/Beer wholesale vend/ retail vends of Tirap District.
