BOMDILA, Apr 16: With the aim of lessening the lockdown ordeals of the people of West Kameng, the District Administration has strengthened the supervision mechanism of economic and welfare measures initiated by the central and state government.
These measures are targeted especially for beneficiaries such as people living below poverty line, farmers, womenfolk, divyagyans, senior citizens, widows, workers in unorganized sectors and those who have lost livelihoods during the lockdown. While the WCD department has activated the PFMS process for transfer of Rs. 1000 to 375 senior citizens, 250 widows and 100 divyagyans, department of Agriculture would facilitate coverage of 2623, 2344, 1617 and 694 beneficiaries/registered farmers in the first, second, third and fourth instalments respectively under PM Kisan Sammaan Yojana in the district.
A total of 8988 families would be provided pulses and rice under the PMGKA Yojana with Rs. 1000 as one-time aid by the department of Food & Civil Supplies. Also, out of the targeted 2273 families, a total of 662 have been provided with LPG cylinders under the Ujjawala Yojana and under PMJDY, a total of 709 women account holders have been benefited. So far, 113 labourers registered with the APB & OCWWB at Bomdila and Bhalukpong out of a total 658 have been given financial benefits of Rs. 4000  for the months of April and May. Data on a total of 391 new beneficiaries for registration have been collected as on date for Covid-19 relief in the district.
Meanwhile, government has increased the wages under MGNREGA from Rs. 192 to 205 and collateral free loans for the SHGs have also been increased from Rs. 10 lac to 20 lac. The Disaster Management department under SDRF has extended financial benefit to 534 families out of a targeted 1080 who have lost livelihoods during the lockdown.
Regarding rescue of the distressed people currently stranded in the district, some credible NGOs, associations and societies of the district have been distributing rice and other essential commodities in various parts. Along with the administration they have been playing an effective role in creating awareness amongst people on the IEC literature related to Covid-19. DIPRO
