Roing, Aug 26: Lower Dibang Valley District Administration, Medical Department (NTCP) and police conducted raids on the sale of tobacco products which was a part of the first phase of implementation of COTPA(Cigarette and Other Tobacco Product Prohibition of Advertising and Regulation of Trade and Commerce Production, Supply and Distribution) Act.
The raids were conducted for violation of statutory pictorial and warning messages on the cover of tobacco products under the provisions of Sections 7,8,12 and 13 of the COPTA Act. The team led by Executive Magistrate Hage Atho seized tobacco products which comprised of cigarettes (Paris and Rulli River cigarettes), gutka and loose tobacco leaves from 10-15 shopkeepers here in the township.
