PASIGHAT, Dec 24: District Magistrate Dr. Kinny Singh imposed ban on sale of IMFL in the district during ending of 2019 and advent of New Year 2020 festive season (from 29th Dec’19 to 3rd Jan 20) throughout the jurisdiction of East Siang vide Order No. J-4303/18-19, Dtd. 23/12/2019 as a precautionary measure to lessen road accidents and other alcoholic menace. A board for intensive monitoring and checking of all wholesale / retail vendors of IMFL has been constituted and violation of this prohibitory order shall attract penal action as per provision of law including section 188 IPC.
According to the DM, efforts and administration’s constant monitoring, accidental case related to drunken driving death was remarkably reduced to zero last year. She urged all to maintain peace and tranquility in  society and not to take law in hand but to inform magistrate(s) and police on duty whenever necessary. Singh also assured to intensify vigilance and ensure that wine shops are closed during the mentioned period and no unauthorized shops/ghumtis hoard/sell IMFL.
