PASIGHAT, Feb 8:In the wake of the brutal murder of a cashier of the Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank, Mebo on Wednesday evening, the East Siang district administration today said it will leave no stone unturned to hunt down the culprits and give justice to the deceased.
Terming the death of Bomge Nyori as ‘shocking’, Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak today said that investigation has been initiated to nab those responsible.
Interacting with members of All East Siang Districts’ Union (AESDSU) and Karko Ao Welfare Association (KAWA) led by Presidents Oyin Yosung and Jummo Geyi respectively, the DC disclosed that autopsy has been conducted and now police are hunting for the culprit(s) and investigating the motive of the murder.
The Deputy Commissioner during his interaction disclosed shocking aspects regarding the functioning of the bank.
‘Condition of the said bank building is too bad, unsafe and it was running without security personnel. The bank authorities should take appropriate steps to modernize, be customer-friendly and fully secure their branches immediately which are running in the district,’ Tatak said expressing his dismay.
While strongly condemning the heinous crime, the organizations have demanded immediate arrest and stringent action against the culprit(s). They also appealed the DC to release ex-gratia and provide job on compassionate grounds to widow Ibom Nyori for upbringing their two minor children.
Meanwhile, SP Prashant Gautam who is personally monitoring every aspect of the case informed that Investigation Officer B. Pait is putting all efforts to crack the murder case and if necessary it may be handed over to senior officer like OC Pasighat.
Asking residents to approach the IO through phone or in person regarding the case, the SP also urged people not the give the incident a communal colour.
“Our only demand right now is punishment under law to whoever was responsible for the murder,” he said.
While assuring the people of identifying and arresting the culprits within short period, he appealed the citizens to help the police to trace out the criminals.
The body of the deceased has been taken to his native Basar for the last rites.
The Students' United Movement of All Arunachal -East Siang District (SUMAA-ESD) also arrived at Mebo and met the Officer in Charge of Mebo PS including the bank manager and enquired about the incident
In a public and student gathering here in the premises the President SUMAA-ESD, Z Moyong appealed the locals of the area to maintain calm and assist the police in the case.
Later they met the Deputy Commissioner, East Siang and submitted a representation in this regard. They also spoke to Local MLA Pasighat Town, Kaling Moyong and MP (East) Ninong Ering.
The Itanagar Mebobian Welfare Kebang (IMWK) while condemning the brutal murder in its strongest term urged the concerned authority to nab the culprits immediately and to confer exemplary punishment.
Joining the condemnation, Lower Siang Elite Forum (LSEF) has also sought high level enquiry team to unearth the truth behind the heinous act and demanded stern action against the culprits.
