PASIGHAT, Apr 16: Cyclonic storms during March and April have caused massive damages to the electricity transmission infrastructure in East Siang district and the Pasighat Electrical Division has been facing a series of problems in quick restoration of the power network system.
According to EE (Power) Er. Tarik Mize, the stormy wind on the intervening night of April 15 caused huge damages to the transmission and distribution lines at Borguli village under Mebo and in the peripheral villages of Ruksin sub-division. However, the departmental team carried out restoration work by removing the fallen and uprooted trees and other obstacles and restored power supply in Borguli and Ruksin areas, informed the EE. Impact of the severe cyclonic storm led to an auto closure at Jonai inlet point of APDCL, Assam, through which the inter-state supply was drawing power in absence of the Arunachal Pradesh Grid Power Supply.
According to official sources, it needs immediate replacement with VCB (Vacuum Circuit Breaker) which will entail a substantial expenditure by the APDCL. DIPRO
