Itanagar, May 2: Fani, the extremely severe cyclonic storm which ravaged various parts of Odisha today, is likely to hit most of the districts of Arunachal Pradesh on May 4 and 5 as per Weather Warning Report received from Regional Metrological Centre, Guwahati.
The intensity of the storm is however likely to be reduced and all the states of the Northeast region shall be facing its effect in the form of strong surface winds reaching speeds in the range of 30-40 kmph. Widespread rainfall is also expected in the western and central parts of the state.
All the districts likely to be affected have been alerted and directions have been issued to take precautionary and preventive measures. A team of NDRF have been pre-positioned at Balukpung for immediate action, in case of any exigency. Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex Talom Dupak has requested the denizens to remain calm and not to panic or believe in rumours or fake news/messages circulating in social media.
