ITANAGAR, Apr 22:The three day celebration of rich cultural heritage extravaganza kickstarted marking the occasion of World Heritage Day on April 18 last at Thembang fortified village. The village was shortlisted in the tentative UNESCO world heritage site.

The major theme of the festival is closely rooted to celebration and rejuvenation of age old traditional games and sports, folk dances, cuisines and essence of  everyday life in heritage village of Thembang.

The inaugural was attended by brigadier Pratap Singh of 5th Mount brigade Tenga Indian Army and commandant S.Subrimanum of 30th BN SSB Dirang as chief guest and guest of honour. 

The villagers and guests sported their age old traditional attire through three days to recreate the ancient look to the festival.

The second day was graced by Dagbom Riba ADC Dirang and Commandant Pankaj of 4th ITBP Dirang as chief guest and guest of honour.

The festival aims to rekindle the link with the neighbouring tribes like the Rajas of Sherdukpen, Hrusso Aka and Talung Zongpen Raja who were invited to share the stage amongst the Rajas of Thembang. 

      The cultural troops from Bhutan, Kalaktang and fringe villages brought in great euphoria through the three day festivity.

The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Kumsi Sidisow, Parliamentary Secretary, PHED & WS and Economics and brigadier Manish Luthra of Baisakhi as guest of honour. Former minister DK Thongdok as special invitee and other officials, HoDs and dignitaries were also present.
