ITANAGAR, May 7:  A review meeting on law and order of the state headed by the Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, attended by the senior officials from Home Department, IGP( Election), IGP(L&O) SP(SB), DC/ SP Itanagar Capital Complex, SP Yupia and representatives of the central agencies was held on Monday here at Civil Secretariat. Chief Secretary sought the details of security and law & order arrangements made for the protection of strong rooms in various districts and about the strong room of Kurung Kumey district in particular from the   DGP In-charge Sunil Garg. A detail report on the security and law & order arrangement on the day of counting as well as for post counting including swearing-in-ceremony was also asked by the CS.
DGP In-charge informed about the details of security and law & order arrangements made by Arunachal Police during the ModelCode of Conduct, pre-election, on the day of polling and re-polling. Elaborating on the security arrangement, Garg said that the security arrangement of all the 20 strong rooms have been provided by the Central Paramilitary Forces and these strong rooms are also under electronic surveillance. All-District SPs and Deputy SPs have been directed to visit and check the strong rooms on regular basis.
In reference to Kurung Kumey and Kra Daadi, Garg further added that more than 9 Companies of forces including 6 Companies of CAPF for Kurung Kumey and 7 Companies of forces for Kra Daadi including 4 Companies of CAPF have been deployed for maintaining law & order and for safeguarding the strongrooms. One Company of dedicated ITBP has been given the task to secure the strong room at Koloriang. The strongrooms have been provided with anti-riot gear equipment such as gas gun & fire tenders, added DGP In-charge Sunil Garg.
Police have registered more than 80 cases, including nabbing of two accused in connection with the murder at Kurung Kumey district, informed Garg while seeking additional 38 Companies of paramilitary forces to maintain law and order during counting and post counting.
