ITANAGAR, Apr 4: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary on April 2 in order to review the compliance of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 in the State.
The meeting was attended by the PCCF & Principal Secretary, Department of Environment & Forests; The PCCF (environment & Climate Change), Department of Environment & Forests; Commissioner, Department of Industries; Secretary, District Administration; Secretary, Department of Urban Development and Town Planning; Member Secretary, Arunachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board, Director (Town Planning) and senior officers from the Department of Health.
The matter of proper implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 in the State was discussed at length. Preparation of State Policy and Action Plans with regard to proper implementation of Solid Waste Management, Plastic Waste Management, Bio-Medical Waste Management, Construction and Demolition Waste Management were discussed.
The Chief Secretary issued clear instructions to officers for effective implementation of Solid Waste Management, Plastic Waste Management, Bio-Medical Waste Management, Construction and Demolition Waste Management along with establishing timelines for compliance of different orders from the NGT pertaining to these rules.
