ITANAGAR, May 2: Chief Secretary of the state Satya Gopal, while attending meetings of the Education Department at CS Conference Hall here on April 30 last said that empowerment of children and identifying the ways to arrest school dropouts are the major tasks before the department.
Participating in the Executive Committee Meeting and State Level Steering Committee-cum-Monitoring Committee Meeting of the department, CS said that empowerment of children is the top priority and for that the education system, besides following normal school routine should also incorporate trainings like skill development, computer education etc as important parts of school activities.
Speaking to the officials of the department he asked them to identify the factors of dropouts in various levels of school education and address them accordingly. Reiterating that the state’s objective is to provide best education and remain ahead of the national average of National Achievement Survey, he directed all the officers and officials to work in a time bound manner. Stressing on the need for updating teachers’ education, the CS supported the idea of customized training for Heads of GHSS & GSS, PGTs and TGTs. Money should be spent only for the purpose for which it has been granted, he emphasised.
Secretary Education, Madhu Rani Teotia gave a detailed information of the department’s budget grants in various policies and programmes and their status with the help of a power point presentation.
Concerned Commissioners, Secretaries, Director Education, WCD and other officials were also present in the meeting. CS PRO
