ITANAGAR, Mar 6: A four-day workshop on Crystallography titled “Reintroducing Crystal Growth and Design” organised by Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre, A.P State Council for Science & Technology concluded today here at the Innovation Hub.
The objective of the workshop which commenced on March 3 was to give hands-on demonstration of crystallization process of atoms and molecules. It is a tool for teaching general Chemistry concepts as well as general research techniques and the workshop was also aimed at providing encouragement of entrepreneurship through Crystallography. Students from Holy Cross School, Himalayan University, NERIST, government schools and Innovation Hub members participated. The valedictory function was presided over by the Director cum Member Secretary, A. P. State Council for Science & Technology C.D. Mungyak who emphasized the need of organizing such programmes on regular basis for igniting interest in the field of Chemistry among students and was visibly satisfied after getting feedbacks from the participants.
Assistant Professor, Department of Science & Humanities, Technical Education and Training, Government of West Bengal Dr. Suprakash Roy was the Resource Person. The students said school laboratories seldom allow them to do practical experiments in their own, but the workshop has acted in renewing their interest in the subject.
