DIRANG, Sep 25: The third legal awareness programme at Dirang Sub-Division in West Kameng district witnessed the Commission emphasizing its crusade against polygamy.
Chairperson APSCW Radhilu Chai Techi came down heavily on instances of polygamy so rampant in the state and urged that it was time to straighten things out. She also strongly advocated against the cases of domestic violence and said that the Commission being an advisory body would put in all of its effort to see that the status of women is elevated at par with men. POCSO was another issue hotly deliberated upon. The participants urged the Commission for regular conduct of such awareness programmes at regular intervals and also for stationing of Commission functionaries in the districts for effective implementation of the welfare measures meant for women and girl child.
