Itanagar, Jan 31: Driving ahead with their motto of spreading consumer rights awareness among the people of the state, Consumer Rights Organization-Arunachal Pradesh (CRO-AP) conducted a seminar in Lower Subansiri District and a School Competition in Capital Complex on January 27 and also a seminar at Sagalee, Papum Pare district and a public meeting at Seppa, East Kameng district on January 30 last.
The objective of these programmes was to spread awareness among consumers with regard to unfair trade practices, consumer rights, duties and responsibilities, CPA, MRP and consumer grievances. These programmes were supported by the Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs, GoAP and Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, GoI. Thousands of consumers like NGOs, SHGs, Market Welfare Communities, students and general public who participated in the above programmes were benefited. 
Resource Persons from the Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs (LM&CA), Assistant Controller D. Gosh, Inspector Rakesh Teksing, District Consumer Protection Officer (DCPO) Taba Amrit, Blood Bank Officer Joram Khopey delivered knowledge about rights, duties & responsibilities to the consumers.
CRO-AP is a voluntary organization established in 2010 with the motto to make consumers aware about unfair trade and business practices in goods and services and many more related to consumer grievances. The vision and mission is to make a new India through delivering knowledge regarding consumer rights, duties and responsibilities and solve consumer related problems. Working on a pan-India basis representing 24 states, the organisation till now had conducted 700 signature drives, 1200 seminars, 600 public meetings, 63 rallies, 31 conferences and 10 national meets. Since 2018, it had conducted 56 consumer awareness programmes in various districts in Arunachal Pradesh with support from state’s Department of LM&CA and Ministry of CA, F&PD, GoI. These comprised 8 Awareness Programmes on MRP, CPA & Public Grievances, 8 Awareness Programmes on Consumer Rights, Duties & Responsibilities, 19 District Induction Programmes, 1 Consumer MITRA Training Programme (Supported by FSSAI), 2 one-day workshops, Programme on ‘The Eat Right Movement’ and 1 Awareness Programme each on petroleum adulteration and LPG.
CRO-AP has appealed every individual to come forward to spread consumer awareness and has also requested the state government to render support to their mission. CRO-AP PR
