ITANAGAR, Jun 1:  Crime Branch of Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Arunachal Pradesh Police has busted illegal drug racket of contraband drug heroin operating in the capital region.
SIT has arrested 5 persons including two IRBN constables and seized commercial quantity of contraband substances, syringes, cash amounting to Rs. 3,33,6001, Bank passbooks having amount of Rs 6,77,473 and nine mobile phones.
The team of SIT under the supervision of Superintendent of police,  SIT Dr. Navdeep Singh Brar comprising of Deputy SP  T. Bage, inspector  Ngilyang LaIi, Inspector P.Nikang, lnspector T.Vijay, Inspector R. Sonam and SI K. Wangsu were working on various inputs regarding the smuggling of drugs in the Capital Complex area.
The kingpin Oyar Panor and  Yayi Lendo Jomoh were identified, who were operating from Chandranagar area in Itanagar. The SIT team conducted raid at Chandranagar area and apprehended  both individuals and  one Rain Rai on 28th May  last and during further investigation involvement of few police personnel was also revealed. Accordingly the team conducted raids in Jully and Chimpu area of Itanagar on 30th May last  and arrested two IRBN constables namely Tenzin Lobsang and Christopher Tair and seized contraband substances, syringes and cash amounts from their possession. In this regard, Crime Branch(SIT) PHQ Itanagar has registered a case vide CB-PS FIR No.12/2020 U/S 22(b)/27(A) NDPS Act and Inspr. Padi Nikang is investigating the case.

Further interrogation revealed that the peddlers hatched a conspiracy and obtained a fake medical emergency pass from DC office Itanagar and went to Guwahati in an Innova Car and brought the drug from the main supplier. The said drug was sold in Jully, Chimpu and Mowb-II area of Itanagar, informed the SP.
He also informed that, joining the fight against drug racket, based on a tip off, on 30thMay last, West Kameng Police Intercepted a bolero pickup at 1300 Chain area between Balemu and Ankaling in Kalaktang subdivision of West Kameng district. It was suspected that the said bolero was illegally trafficking cannabis. Upon search it was found that the pickup was carrying 32 bags weighing around 610 kgs of cannabis. The car was being driven by one Sang Jamtso of Yolloripam village. A juvenile of the same village was accompanying him.
On interrogation, the driver revealed that he collected the cannabis from one Tsong Jaipu of Waizer village near Dengzi, Kalaktang. They were planning to sell it in Assam. An investigation is going on to identify the other persons involved in this network of drug trafficking.
A case vide FIR No. 06/20 u/s 20(B) NDPS Act has been registered in Balemu Police Station. Both the accused are in police custody.
This is in continuation of the effort of district police against the menace of drugs. In the last two months, the district police have arrested 9 drug peddlers across the district in 3 cases in connection with the trafficking of brown sugar (heroin). About 20 gms of brown sugar were seized in these cases, informed SP-SIT, Dr N Brar.
