BOMDILA, May 6: The Information, Education & Communication (IEC) Core Committee of West Kameng intensified the Covid-19 awareness campaign in the district beginning from Sera Dekyeling village under Bomdila Circle on Wednesday keeping in mind the return of stranded students and people into the district.
In addition to IEC campaigns carried out by IPR and concerned administrative officers during first two legs of the lockdown, central IEC committee of Bomdila would be conducting intensified campaigns in all 14 administrative Circles of the district in collaboration with respective administrative officers, medical & police officers, GBs, CBOs, SHGs, associations, societies, local volunteers and Gram Preraks appointed under Arunachal Rising Campaign (ARC).
Underscoring the importance of social distancing, IEC chairperson Gocham Taga elaborated on core issues and urged people to religiously follow the dos and don’ts and highlighted PM’s 7-point plan to win the Covid-19 battle with special emphasis on social stigma associated with the pandemic. “Discrimination against frontline workers, people affected or recovering from Covid-19 and certain communities and areas being labelled based on false reports should be done away with in order to facilitate emergence of a community empowered with health literacy,” he said.
Urging all not to be complacent with the state being in green zone, Taga reiterated the importance of disseminating information and taking necessary precautions in the wake of people returning back to the district.
He called upon Gram Preraks, GBs, CBOs, associations, youths and others to play proactive roles in carrying forward the message in respective local dialects as the district has six different indigenous tribes.
