ITANAGAR, Mar 29: An error in the Doordarshan news broadcast claiming seven Covid-19 positive cases in Arunachal Pradesh created panic in the state this morning. DD news in its news bulletin this morning showed the footage of Itanagar with a sticker stating 7 positive cases of Covid-19.
Soon after social networking sites and WhatsApp were flooded with the news clip. The situation turned so tense that Chief Minister Pema Khandu had to clarify and set the record straight through his official twitter handle. The CM tweeted “Overall 19 samples for COVID-19 have been collected in Arunachal Pradesh. All 19 have tested negative”.
When contacted, authority from DDK-Itanagar clarified that ‘desk team at Delhi misunderstood the report sent from Itanagar and mistakenly aired the report as 7 positive cases instead of 7 tests awaited out of 19 samples.'
Correction was made as soon as we received the report of the error, added an official of DDK-Itanagar.
Meanwhile, in an interview with DDK-Itanagar, State Nodal Officer, COVID-19, Task Force, Dr. Jampa has also clarified that there is no positive case of COVID-19 out of the 19 samples that have been sent for testing.
