PASIGHAT, Sep 30: In an effort to make Government Residential School Gandhi, as a centre of excellence and a real model school of its kind in the state, East Siang District Deputy Commissioner, Tamiyo Tatak called a meeting of private companies, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and bankers operating in the district today and requested them to sponsor the school under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The school was recently upgraded to Govt Model Residential School under Chief Minister’s Adhunik Patshala Yojna on September 11. While welcoming the participants, Dy. Director of School Education, East Siang district, Jongge Yirang informed that the state government will be providing infrastructure and other facilities but there are a lot of things to be done to make the school a Model School in real terms like development of play ground for sports, construction of approach road etc.
Addl. Dy. Commissioner (HQ), Tatdo Borang while participating in the discussion, appealed to the participants to support and extend help to the government initiative and contribute in the form of cash, kind and labour. The participants from banks and PSUs while appreciating the initiatives of the District Administration, requested to give a formal request in writing along with estimates so that, they could obtain permission / sanction from appropriate authorities.
Puna Hinda Company will take up the development of play ground, State Bank of India will construct the gate with cattle trap, while NHIDCL (National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited) will take up the painting of school building. The construction of internal approach road will be taken up with the contribution of other banks while beautification of the campus will be taken up by DDSE and the school authorities.
