BOMDILA, Mar 11: Though West Kameng district is safe from the dreaded Coronavirus influx till date, the District administration and the department of Health & Family Welfare has left no stone unturned to prevent the influx of COVID-19.
Taking serious note of the outbreak, the DC cum DM of West Kameng, apprehensive of infection by Army, Para-Military and GREF personnel who happen to return from their hometown after leave from different parts of the country, have ordered for their identification and proper management by the concerned organizations.
Subsequently, proper screening of people, tourists and passengers visiting the district and beyond are being carried out at Balemu and Bhalukpong police check gates ; which are the entry points to the district, by the department of Health in collaboration with the local administration and police personnel.
A coordination meeting of the Health & Family Welfare and District administration Bomdila was also held on January 31last to chalk out a road map in order to work upon means and ways to prevent influx of the Coronavirus.
Awareness cum coordination meeting with Tour operators, hoteliers and Home stay operators of the district was also conducted on February 5 last in the DC’s Conference Hall to sensitize the stakeholders on the issue at large.
Seeking of travel history of tourists and visitors visiting the district and journeys undertaken to other countries especially to China etc were some of the issues taken up for implementation.
As of date, 20 bedded separate quarantine facilities for both male and female has been identified at Bomdila and checks being conducted both at Balemu and Bhalukpong check gates by the local administration, doctors and police personnel. DIPRO
