Yupia, Mar 18: As a part of the ongoing coronavirus vigil by the administration, a high-level team today inspected the Covid-19 screening centres at Banderdewa and Gumto checkgates.
The team comprised Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare Pige Ligu, Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Complex Komkar Dulom, Superintendent of Police ICC Tumme Amo, SP Papum Pare Jimmy Chiram, District Medical Officers ICC and Papum Pare M. Perme and Dr Subu Tasso Kampu respectively. Taking stock of the situation, the team inspected the overall arrangements, interacted with health workers and stressed on proper screening and monitoring of passengers coming from other states. Earlier, the team also visited the District Level Training of Trainers of Covid-19 of MO I/Cs, HWOs, nurses and line departments at the Mini Secretariat in Naharlagun. DC Ligu informed both Capital and Papum Pare DAs are in coordination with the health department and are taking up adequate preventive measures to screen passengers at various checkgates like Hollongi, Gumto, Banderdewa, Kimin, railway station and Naharlagun helipad besides banning the issue of ILPs to outsiders. He further stated that WHO has declared Covid-19 as pandemic and hence it’s time to remain vigilant and fully prepared against a possible outbreak in the state and appealed all to spread awareness among fellow citizens on the laid-out precautionary measures, strictly follow the travel advisories and  avoid panicking. Ligu also requested the DMOs and SPs to take proper care of the requirements of the health workers and police personnel discharging duties at the screening centres. ICC SP reminded the need to remain serious about any possible outbreak of the pandemic in state and maintain the advisories and precautionary measures in full.  District Medical Officer, ICC requested people not to get influenced by fake and rumour messages being circulated on social media about coronavirus and trust only the daily medical bulletin issued by the Health Department. He also advised all health workers to work with a missionary zeal to overcome the crisis period. DMO Papum Pare added that the Health Department both at ICC and Papum Pare is leaving no stone unturned to stop any possible outbreak.
Presiding over the training programme, DSO Dr. R. Ronya gave an overview of its objectives. Resource Persons- SMO WHO Dr. Ushma, Dr. K.Tamar, Dr. Jennifer Tayeng, Dr. L.Chuki and Epidemiologist Ili Angu gave presentations on epidemiology updates, cluster containment strategy, community surveillance, infection prevention, standard & additional precautions, environmental cleaning, disinfection & bio-medical waste management, information management, demonstrations on donning and doffing of PPE, laboratory surveillance, risk communications & community management, hospital preparedness and non-pharmaceutical interventions etc. DIPRO
