Khonsa, Mar 29: The Tirap District Administration in coordination with the Health department, district police, chiefs, GBs, Interim PRIs, youth leaders and religious leaders has engaged itself in enforcing the lockdown in total since its commencement from March 24 last.
In a district level coordination meeting held on Saturday under the chairmanship of DC P.N. Thungon, discussions on the action plan for containment of Covid-19 were made. DC urged all officials to be proactive and work together and a slew of decisions were taken. It was decided to identify all daily wages earners in the district as early as possible for which all HoDs have been assigned responsibilities so that free kitchen and accommodation could be provided to them.
The DDMO (District Disaster Management Officer) has been entrusted to liaise with the Labour/Students’ Union and Bazar Committee Presidents/Secretaries at the earliest. Constituted sector officers against various administrative blocks will oversee and monitor the home quarantined persons in their respective allotted Blocks/Circles and will report to Nodal Officer Covid-19 and DMO will initiate further necessary action as per necessity.
Sectors officers shall also assist in distribution of essential commodities like LPG cylinders, rice, pulses, onions, potatoes and necessary edible items in different locations in accordance with the roaster arranged by the DA where they will be assisted by the respective BLOs, GBs, Chiefs and Interim Panchayat members. These officers shall also identify the migrant labourers working in small shops/construction works etc in villages, Circles, Sub-Divisions through NGOs, Anganwadi workers, ASHAs, GBs, Chiefs, Interim Panchayat members and shall report to the ADC Khonsa immediately. DC Thungon highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kaliyan Yojana in which a package of Rs. 1.7 lakh crore was announced to support the most vulnerable sections of society to combat the economic hardships due to the pandemic. Moreover, LPG cylinders are being distributed at homes. The PDS item meant for consumers of Lazu area villages have been lifted from Khonsa on Sunday through the Horticulture department trucks.
Meanwhile, on Sunday the DA handed over 2000 masks, 300 hand sanitizers and 135 hand gloves to the district health department meant for ground-level health workers and doctors assigned for Covid-19 duties. Masks, sanitizers and gloves as per requirement were also distributed for the police personnel, SBI staff and some other sector officers/officials engaged in Covid-19 duties.
SP Tirap Kardak Riba informed that all the checkgates in Deomali, Hukanjuri and Dirok have been sealed and villagers have also sealed their respective village entry gates partially which includes state and international roads. He further informed that police personnel are being deployed in all public places and are engaged in distribution of essential commodities in market areas and in the three quarantine centres at Hukanjuri, Polyphonic and Trauma Centre.
