Khonsa, Oct 5: Ahead of the 56 Khonsa West bye-election, a preparedness coordination meeting was conducted today here at the Kamlesh Joshi Conference Hall of DC office which was participated by the candidates, Election Observers, HoDs, flying squads and police.
SP Tirap Kardak Riba informed that adequate security forces including 12 coy Para Military Forces/ IRBn and state police under the supervision of two Superintendents of Police to assist SP Tirap, 10 DSPs, 16 Inspectors and 26 Sub-Inspectors besides Tirap Police have been deployed in different locations to ensure free and fair conduct of the by-election. SP appealed both the candidates to respect each other and be a part of a free and fair election. ERO-cum-EAC Hakresha Kri informed that preparations  for the bye-election are being  carried out smoothly and various rounds of training have also been imparted to the officers/officials assigned for election duties. He further informed that till now, flying squad team have seized 14 cages of foreign liquor, an amount of Rs. 2,05,000 and sharp knives etc from different locations. RO-cum-DC Tirap P.N. Thungon appealed the candidates and their supporters to cooperate with the District Administration, police and polling teams assigned for the duties for peaceful conduct of the election procedure. He also appreciated the Tirap Police, para military forces, APP and IRBn, Election Observer/Expenditure Observer for working hard to ensure peaceful conduct of   polls. DC further urged the Power and PHE&WS department to ensure electricity connection and water supply in all the 23 polling booths. Election Observer/Expenditure Observer also spoke on the occasion.
The meeting was attended by the two candidates, Chakat Aboh and Azet Humtok, both contesting as Independents, their supporters and HoDs among others. DIPRO
