MECHUKA, Jan 21: Governor BD Mishra visited the newly created Shi Yomi district today and addressed public meetings and interacted with the people at Tato and Mechuka.
Congratulating the people of Shi Yomi for the new district, he expressed hope that it will expedite the development process for the people. He said that creation of the new district aims to bring administration to the doorstep of the people. He however advised them to put in their best to get over the teething problems in the initial stage.
The Governor asked the people to cooperate with the district administration to build up the infrastructure and amenities for the people. He said that the new District will require road, electricity and internet communication. The people must be active partners in the developmental progress by willingly providing required resources, such as land to the district administration. He also emphasised on health and education development in the District.
Accepting a memorandum from the people of the district, the Governor assured them to take up their issues with the State leadership for the welfare of the people of newly created district.
The Governor stressed on proper utilization of developmental funds with honesty, transparency and accountability.
Later in the afternoon, the Governor met the troops of Indian Army stationed in Shi Yomi. He exhorted them to continue great tradition of Indian Armed Forces in safe guarding the border. The Governor also asked them to motivate the local youth to join the Indian Armed Forces.
In the evening, the Governor graced the Sonam Losar Festival celebration and greeted the people on the festive occasion. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor, who has toured the world said that Mechuka is better than Switzerland. He suggested them to harness the tourism potential of the place.
The Governor was accompanied by the First Lady Neelam Misra. Local MLA Passang Dorjee Sona, Deputy Commissioner Mito Dirchi and Superintendent of Police Gothombu Dajangju were present on the occasion amongst others.
