ITANAGAR, Feb 18: All Arunachal Contractor’s Welfare Association (AACWA) expressed concern over non-awarding of multi crores works under the Itanagar Smart City program and funds under Cabinet Committee Infrastructure(CCI) to its own state engineering departments like PWD, UD, RWD, Power (E) and PHED.
AACWA regretted that the decision would affect many local bonafide contractors registered under AP-PWD, from Class-1 to Class-V, who are paying hefty processing fees to the state government.
“If state government continue to encourage firms and companies from outside, local entrepreneurs will have to hand over their contractor registration certificates to the state government due to non-availability of work," it stated.
It opined that if such works were allowed to be executed by local contractors then resources will be circulated within the state.
