Itanagar, Apr 15: The All Arunachal Contractors’ Welfare Association (AACWA) has alleged that state government is taking advantage of the Covid-19 situation and causing “big trouble” to the contractor fraternity.
In a press release issued on Tuesday highlighting their deep troubles in feeding the stranded labourers due to the lockdown which has further been extended, AACWA has questioned state government’s decision of not lifting the ban on clearance of cheques on government transactions to many contractors. Recalling the March statement of the Deputy Chief Minister cum Finance Minister when he said that financial health of the state is good, the association has asked the rationality behind the delay.
AACWA has appealed many times to the state government for lifting the ban but without any effect, the release said, adding that for Covid-19 central government had granted sufficient funds. It has welcomed state government's decision of allowing resumption of construction works but also highlighted the need for entry of construction material like steel and cement in state due to insufficiency of stock.
