PASIGHAT, Jul 12: The drinking water supply systems with various diameters that feed Pasighat township from Tebo, Bosing and Sippi including village water supply systems under Bilat and Ruksin sections in East Siang district have been completely damaged by flood waters due to continuous downpour, mostly at river crossings and headworks.
AE, PHE, Pasighat Sub-Division Tadung Padung has informed that many village water supply systems have been temporarily restored except some few unreachable far flung points. Adding that many treatment plants have clogged up due to non-stop inflow of silt laden runoff from the feeder water source, he also assured that complete restoration work would be undertaken as soon as the flood water recedes. AE, PHE, Mebo Sub-Division Kabong Tayeng while conveying the present status of damages informed that restoration work would take a few days as many DI pipes have been buried beneath the debris and sand mounds.
It was also reported that the main supply line of 200 mm diameter DI pipe of Mebo project has been damaged at Sukkan Nallah crossing and many structures like supporting pillars, anchor blocks and few DI pipes have also been washed away by flash floods in many locations.
