Aalo/Pasighat, Mar 3: In a shocking incident which occurred in the wee hours of Tuesday, a security personnel posted at the premises of the Chief Judicial Magistrate building at Aalo was gunned down by an unidentified miscreant.
The gruesome murder reportedly took place at 3 am and the deceased has been identified as Tapop Yajo (32) who was serving as a Constable in the 5th IR.Bn of Shi Yomi district.
According to sources, before the incident there was a spell of stone pelting in the CJM building which led to the search of the miscreant(s), when the shooting took place. After hearing the firing sound, the chowkidar after a brief search of its origin, discovered Constable Yajo being shot dead and thereafter called the local people.
In protest against the brutal killing of the security personnel, West Siang District Bar Association (WSDBA) will conduct a peaceful dharna to place the demand for constituting SIT for effective investigation, as it feels that the district police had earlier failed to solve three such attacks in the court building along with the demand to deploy adequate security forces in CJM Aalo premises.
President WSDBA Advocate Minrik Noshi while informing that it is the third attack, said the association will boycott all proceedings of the court until the police makes a positive headway in the case as the past cases of arson in the court premises and building are unsolved yet.
According to WSDBA, people in the area are suffering from fear psychosis since there is no safety even in the temple of justice.
Late Yajo is survived by his father, mother, two daughters and wife.
Meanwhile, Adi Bane Kebang has strongly condemned the crime and requested the competent authority and investigating team to arrest the culprit immediately under stringent sections of law.
Late Yajo was the younger brother of martyred Naik Tape Yajo, Kirti Chakra (Posthumous) who died valiantly during the anti-terrorist operation in Poonch sector of J&K. A stadium in Aalo has also been named after Amar Veer Tape Yajo.
The family of the deceased has demanded compensation and a government job too. Galo Students’ Union (GSU) has also expressed deep shock over the incident and demanded fast arrest of the culprit.
Local MLA Kento Jini in his condolence message to the bereaved family has expressed shock and grief over the brutal murder.
