ITANAGAR, Sep 21: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) today chaired a high-level meeting of senior officials and Heads of Institutes of Higher Education of the state here at Raj Bhavan.
The meeting was conveyed with the aim of reinforcing the efforts of the state government in improving the higher education scenario with special focus on technical and higher education. National Education Policy (Higher Education), accreditation of colleges, quality of education, usage of technology, student apprenticeship and social responsibility were discussed at length. Chairing the meeting in the run up to the upcoming Conference of Governors, Governor advised the officials to put in concerted efforts for improving the state of higher education, underscoring the importance of commitment of teaching community and personal counselling of students.
While expressing concern about non-accreditation of 12 colleges in the state, he said that it is very important to have cent per cent accreditation and principals must be apprised to complete it at the earliest. He asked the Director Higher Education to prepare a time-bound plan for accreditation of all the government colleges of the state.  While stressing on quality education, Governor opined that students must stand up and innovate avenues for self-employment and heads of institutes must focus on arranging apprenticeship of students with the corporate houses.   Fit India Campaign, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and Plastic Ban Campaign should also form a part of Higher Education, he said. 
Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University, Professor Saket Kushwaha, Director NERIST, Professor H.S. Yadav, Director NIT, Arunachal Pradesh Professor P. Mahanta, Secretary Education, Madhu Rani Teotia, Director Higher & Technical Education, Dr. Tayek Talom, Principal, Don Bosco College, Father Jose George and Principal, Binni Yanga Government Women’s College, Dr. Aruna Gyati Lod were present in the meeting.  PRO Raj Bhavan
