PASIGHAT, Apr 29: As an initiative to make villagers aware about various issues concerning the general public, the Silukian Welfare Kebang (SWK) of Silluk village, one of the oldest in Mebo sub-division conducted a day long awareness programme at Silluk Upper Primary School on Sunday.
The programme dealt with the issues of community participation on education, health & hygiene, POCSO & girl child and disaster management. Attending as resource persons, District Disaster Management Officer, G. Tsumo, Principal DIET B. Dutta, Dr. Nong Borang from Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat, Dr. Dilip Dutta from CHC and others along with DDSE East Siang, J. Yirang who sponsored the programme highlighted the importance of the issues.
The team led by DDSE Jongge Yirang also inspected the dilapidated school rooms which require immediate renovation. The DDSE who is lauded in the entire district of East Siang for his determined effort to rejuvenate the educational scenario of the district had also managed funds totaling Rs. 7 lakhs from corporate sector for renovation of the dilapidated school building.
