ITANAGAR, Apr 19:  In solidarity with All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organization (AIFUCTO), the Arunachal Pradesh College Teachers’ Association (APCTA) today observed “Demands Day” across 18 colleges demanding immediate publication of 7th UGC Pay Review Committee Report and shares the same with AIFUCTO.

At DN College, the observation of “Demands Day” was led by General Secretary of APCTA, Dr. Eli Doye along with the Convener Tumbom Riba Jomoh.

Highlighting the aim behind the observance of “Demands Day”, Dr Eli Doye said, “It is really unfortunate to find the undemocratic and apathetic attitude of the Central Government towards the teaching community and the education as a whole. While all Central Government as well as State Government employees are getting 7th Pay Package since many months, the University and College teachers of the country, as a whole, are still clueless about its implementation by the UGC and MHRD”, added Doye.

Meanwhile at Wangcha Rajkumar Government College, Deomali Unit APCTA observed ‘Demands Day’ by conducting a meeting in which the College Teachers had an important discussion and deliberation relating to 7th UGC Pay Review Committee.

All federal units of APCTA of all 18 colleges  has also successfully observed the day with  peaceful sit-in demonstrations using banners, placards and badges, and by holding a meeting in which the College Teachers participated.

AIFUCTO is demanding release of pay scale arrears by Central/State Government, stoppage of commercialization of higher education, removal anomalies in UGC Regulations (pay scales & Ph.D.) & date of extension of RC/OC, and many others.
