Doimukh, Oct 5: Government College Doimukh observed Swachhata Hi Seva and Plastic Mukt Bharat as a part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations which was attended by MLA 14 Doimukh Tana Hali.
The MLA while highlighting the importance of Gandhi Jayanti appealed the students to make swachhata the essence of life and imbibe positivity with discipline. He joined the tree plantation and social service programmes besides inspecting the on-going civil works and inquired about the requirements of the college. He also advised the faculty to devote themselves for the cause of quality education in order to equip students so that they come up with flying colours in competitive examinations such as APPSCCE etc.
Principal, Dr M. Q. Khan appreciated the students, staff and faculty members for working with a team spirit to ensure clean, green and conducive environment. He also lauded the wholehearted support and guidance rendered by the local MLA for development of the institution and informed that the college had already banned use of all sorts of plastic since April, 22, 2018.
NSS volunteers of the college took out a rally from the campus to Doimukh town to create awareness about the ill-effects of plastic and make the township, campus and all houses plastic free.
