Roing, Oct 1: A special lecture session on the topic ‘Revisiting Gandhi: A Critical Study of His Life and its Contemporary Relevance’ was organised today here at the Jomin Tayeng Government Model Degree College by its Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC).
The initiative was a part of the Arete Lecture Series and also a mark of commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. IQAC Coordinator, Assistant Professor (Economics) Apilang Apum said that the main objective of the Arête Lecture Series is to engage the students and faculty in issues which have state, national and global importance and enrich the overall curriculum values. While sharing a brief history about the life of the Mahatma, Assistant Professor (Hindi), JTGMDC Okiling Lego focused on the contributions made by Gandhi in Indian freedom struggle. Principal, Dr. Monshi Tayeng laid special emphasis on the importance of keeping the environment and surroundings clean. Later, Assistant Professor (English) Dr. Razzeko Deley who was the Resource Person of the event did a thorough critical study of Gandhi’s life and its contemporary relevance.
A documentary on the life of Gandhi was also screened after the lecture session. JTGMDC PR
