ITANAGAR, Apr 12:Demystifying several facets of colonization, J Nanda Kumar, Organising Secretary, All India Pragya Pravah & Invitee Member, RSS All India Executive Committee called for collective effort across political, science and education field to overcome colonial mindset among the masses.

Delivering a talk on ‘Decolonising Indian Mindset’ organized by Eastern Sentinel newspaper here today, he also held the country’s leaders responsible for failing to act which furthered the continuation of colonial mindset till present times.

‘After Independence it was a good chance to decolonize the ill effects of colonization but leaders failed us,’ he said.

Kumar who was on his fourth visit to the state, lauded the Arunachalees for preserving their culture and taking pride in it.

‘Going after other cultures is akin to death. Our culture is our identity,’ he said appreciating the indigenous population for ensuring continuation of their age old heritage.

Impressed by the wide use of Hindi language as a common mode of communication by locals in the state, Kumar said ‘Hindi language is practiced in a better way here than in other parts of the country. Arunachalees are true Indians in all aspects.’

Candidly speaking, Kumar touched various facets of colonization, its implications and why it is imperative to decolonize the Indian mindset.

Highlighting the scientific knowledge system which is prevalent in rural communities and villages, which ensures a holistic approach to environment, agriculture etc, Kumar stressed on realizing local knowledge and using it to our advantage.

Chairman Himalayan University, Hemant Goyal who attended as special guest also addressed the gathering.

The interactive session saw active participation from the audience which comprised of academicians, media persons, students and social workers.
