ITANAGAR, Sep 20: Chief Minister Pema Khandu conducted a surprise inspection of Government Higher Secondary School here today in ESS sector. 
During the visit made unannounced, Chief Minister inspected several classrooms to get  first-hand condition of the school. Inspecting the classrooms, he checked the condition of furniture, lighting facilities, walls etc. He also interacted with the students and the teachers and enquired on the teaching environment of the school. Chief Minister emphasized that besides academic courses, students be made to take active part in co-curricular activities. He appreciated the initiative of the school in involving students to paint graffiti in school walls to encourage the creativity in them.
Taking a whirlwind tour of the school campus, Chief Minister paid a visit to staff room, teacher’s room and the principal office. He inspected the godown where books were kept and inquired on the status of availability of school textbooks. He urged that textbooks be made available and assured to provide support so that there is no shortage.
The purpose of the surprise inspection was also to check the level of sincerity among the teachers and other staffs of the school. Chief Minister asked for attendance register and personally checked the attendance of all the teaching and other staff. Finding no regular records, Chief Minister urged the school authority to ensure that regular attendance of all the school staff and teachers is recorded daily.
Chief Minister also inspected the functioning of smart classrooms. He personally interacted with the students enquiring about their satisfactory level in smart classroom teachings. Students expressed few issues on which Chief Minister urged that teachers be adequately trained to make smart classrooms teachings effective.
Chief Minister further inspected the science laboratory. He also inspected the new RCC school building, which is undergoing construction with some part of it completed. Chief Minister asked the authority to utilize the building for teaching purposes urging that few classrooms be shifted immediately. Chief Minister also requested the authority to shift the smart classroom teaching to this new RCC building assuring that all necessary support will be provided. Chief Minister also inspected the classrooms in the new school building equipped for children with special needs.
Winding up the visit, Chief Minister had discussion with school authority on how to improve the condition and learning environment of the school. Chief Minister assured that the old Assam type building will be soon replaced by RCC structures. He also assured all necessary support in terms of infrastructure, other facilities, staff and teachers shortages. CMO
