Itanagar, Mar 10:  Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the untimely demise of Secretary Science and Technology  Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Gaken Ete who breathed his last on Saturday. 
In his condolence message, Khandu said “With profound grief, I write to share the grief of losing one of the most illustrious, qualified and decorated first generation technocrat turned bureaucrat of Arunachal Pradesh, who scaled the pinnacle of his chosen career. With the demise of Late Er Gaken Ete, Secretary Science & Technology on March 9, the State has lost an able engineer, a fine administrator and a great human being."
Born in 1961 at Darka village, Late Ete did his initial schooling from R K Mission and later completed his bachelors degree in Agriculture Engineering from Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana in1984. He joined Government of Arunachal Pradesh as Assistant Engineer in Water Resource Development in 1984 and was promoted as Executive Engineer in 1989. He later got elevated to SE in 1995 and Chief Engineer in 2000. He also joined the list of technocrat turned bureaucrat  and became Secretary in Government of Arunachal Pradesh holding many important departments. 
His sincerity and dedication towards his work fetched him lot of respect from all quarters. His love for sports especially badminton was known to all. Infact, he was the pioneer of the promotion of Badminton in the state and held the post of the Secretary, Arunachal State Badminton Association from 1998 to 14th June 2014 - longest in the history of Badminton in the state.

At this moment of extreme grief, me my family,colleagues in the Government and the people of Arunachal Pradesh extend our solidarity with you and share the pain inflicted by one of the greatest truth of life. 

"I pray Almighty to bestow you with strength to bear the irreparable loss. May the soul of the one of ablest son of Arunachal Pradesh rest in peace in heavenly abode” the message added further. 
The members of Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) including badminton promoters, players and parents  residing in capital complex and Department of Science & Technology, including A.P State Council for Science & Technology, State Remote Sensing Application Centre and Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre expressed  shock on the sudden and untimely demise of ASBA former Hony Secretary and IT Secretary Gaken Ete. 
While recalling the tireless contribution of late Gaken Ete for development of Badminton, Chairman Sports Authority of Arunachal Pradesh (SAAP) who is also Secretary of ASBA Bamang Tago disclosed that Gaken Ete was one among the leading promoter of badminton across the state and served the ASBA as its Secretary from 1998 to 2014. Late Gaken was to become first Executive member in Badminton Association of India from the state and man behind to get affiliation of ASBA with BAI. His demise has irreparable lost to the ASBA.  
ASBA convened condolence meeting here at MLA cottage Indoor Badminton stadium today attended by members of ASBA, players and badminton lovers of the twin city and observed two minutes silence as a marked of respect to the departed badminton veteran leader and prayed almighty God to bestow enough strength to the bereaved family and eternal peace of the departed soul. 
Earlier, members of ASBA  players, parents and badminton promoters led by Chairman Sports Authority of Arunachal visited his residence at D-sector and paid their last respect to the departed.   
The Department of Science & Technology, including A.P State Council for Science & Technology, State Remote Sensing Application Centre and Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre,   Government of Arunachal Pradesh deeply mourned the sudden and untimely demise of Gaken Ete  who was the Secretary of the department. 
In a press release issued by Arunachal Pradesh state council for Science & technology (APSC & ST) Director and Member Secretary C D Mungyak said that the death of Gaken Ete has sent a shockwave amongst the employees of the Department of Science & Technology. 
Late Er. Ete was a visionary and straight forward person. He was a highly knowledgeable technocrat . He was also very kind hearted and was loved by all in the department.. All the employees of the department went to Hollongi check gate on Saturday to receive his mortal remains. They paid floral tribute to the departed soul at his residence at RWD colony D Sector. He will always be remembered as a mentor and guide of the department. The release added.
The Chairman of A.P State Council for Science &Techology Bamang Mangha also expressed deep shock over the sudden demise of Er. GakenEte and said he not only has lost a good secretary to the government but also a personal friend. The void that has been created because of Ete’s demised will difficult to be filled. CMO
