BOMDILA, Jul 4: In order to revive the past glory of Bomdila as one of the most clean and preferred tourist destination, the District administration, UD&H and various civil societies today in a meeting decided to resume the weekly cleanliness drive at district headquarters Bomdila beginning from July 5.
The decision so arrived upon also bore the markings of the directives of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) which is very serious on the implementation of the Solid Waste Management & Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016.
Deputy Commissioner in-charge ADC Adong Pertin, EAC P Monpa and AE UD&H DK Thungon dwelt on the various aspects of waste management rules and appealed the people to co-operate and partake in making Bomdila plastic free and strive to be the torch bearers in waste management.
The house unanimously decided to go for regular weekly cleanliness drives in Bomdila Township with the sector officers to play a vital role in its implementation.
It was also decided that IPR with the logistic support from UD&H Bomdila would take the lead role in creating awareness amongst the school and College going children in Bomdila.
Earlier, a team comprising of EAC P Monpa, CO K Wangda and police officers raided various shops in Bomdila bazaar for reduction in plastic waste. The team also briefed the shopkeepers on the segregation of dry and wet wastes and the disposal measures to be adopted. DIPRO
