PASIGHAT, May 24: Reacting to the inclusion of Padung, Payum and Pago clans under the genealogy of Bogum or Galo tribe in a book titled, ‘Identity: an insight into the Galo Tribal World’ authored by one Mr Moi Bagra, the members of the three clans sought a clarification from the author within a 15 day period.

Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, members of the clans headed by Dr. Egul Padung, Dr. Temin Payum, Dr. Otem Padung, Kenbo Pago and Taken Padung (President, Padung-Padu Opin Union)  said that, the author has wrongfully put Padung, Payum and Pago clans under the genealogy of Bogum/Galo tribe.

“Of course, the author of the book Mr. Moi Bagra has tried to compile some clans of Arunachal Pradesh to give identity, but his mentioning of Padung-Padu, Payum and Pago under Galo tribe is misleading and misguiding”, they said clarifying that they are from Adi-Minyong tribe and trace their genealogy from Keyum.

They further claimed that the author consulted with some members of Padung clan of Darka village near Aalo town but didn’t consult with senior members of the said clans living in other areas and districts.
