ITANAGAR, Apr 18: After discharge of the state’s lone Covid-19 positive patient post recovery and no addition of any new case, the ‘Bulletin on Covid-19 for Arunachal Pradesh’ released on Saturday has laid stress on strict continuance of all the preventive advisories by the citizens.
The bulletin while elaborating on the advisories on use of homemade protective cover for face & mouth has urged the citizens to keep continuing with these norms for minimising the chances of infection and has cited the instances of success in this regard by several severely affected countries. It has been categorically mentioned that people even who are not suffering from medical conditions or having breathing difficulties may use the handmade reusable face cover particularly when venturing out as it will check substantially the scope of community transmissions. It has been advised that two sets of such face covers be made so that one can be washed while the other is used and hand washing would still remain the essential criteria before wearing the face cover. These face covers could be made out of clean cloth available at home, which needs to be thoroughly cleaned and washed before stitching and should be prepared in such a manner that it can cover the mouth and nose completely and can be tied over the face easily. There must not be sharing of face covers and each individual must possess his/her own, the bulletin reminded. However, face cover is not recommended for the frontline health workers or those working with or in contact with Covid-19 patients or are patients themselves as these categories of people are required to wear specified protective gear, the bulletin added.
As on Saturday taking into account all the districts of Arunachal Pradesh, out of 389 samples collected, 315 have tested negative, 41 tested negative after repeat tests and 31 results are still awaited.
