PASIGHAT, Feb 12: A coordination meeting organized by the DD (ICDS) with CHILDLINE India Foundation (CIF) Kolkata, HODs and NGOs was held today at the DC’s office conference hall under the chairmanship of the In-charge Deputy Commissioner, Tatdo Borang ADC.
While welcoming the noble efforts of CIF, Kolkata, Borang informed that CHILDLINE India Foundation (CIF) is the nodal agency of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development acting as the parent organization for setting up, managing and monitoring the CHILDLINE 1098 service all over the country. CIF is the sole agency/body responsible for establishing the CHILDLINE service in the cities/districts of the country, monitoring of service delivery and finance, training, research and documentation, creating awareness, advocacy as well as resource generation for the service.
Earlier, CIF Senior Coordinator Sabyasachi Chatterjee and Program Assistant Abhishikta Bandyopadhyay in their presentation briefed about the mission and achievements of CIF and informed that CHILDLINE 1098 service is a 24 hour free emergency phone outreach service for children in need of care and protection. This is a project supported by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development and linking state Governments, NGOs, bilateral /multilateral agencies and corporate sector. CIF is responsible for the establishment of CHILDLINE centres across the country. The organization also functions as a national centre for awareness, advocacy and training on issues related to child protection. Later, the duo interacted with HODs and NGOs and held open house discussion and participated in field visit. DIPRO
