ITANAGAR, Apr 14:

Along with the rest of state, the Christian community on Friday observed Good Friday amid prayers and parades to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary.

Commemorating the day with great enthusiasm, the Catholic St Mary Church  carried out mass parades (demonstration) to portray the last days and hours of Jesus' life.

Hundreds of believers irrespective of age singing hymns took out a rally from Dai Ering Colony, near Rural Development office to Ganga Market, Itanagar.

Narrating the significance of Good Friday, one of the participants said on this day Jesus died on the cross, wore the crown of thorns to save humanity from their sins.

‘So remembering the sacrifice of Lord Jesus Christ for mankind, we observe fast too and pray to God to forgive our sins. The last seven words uttered by the Lord on the cross have been read and special prayer was offered for peace, unity and brotherhood on the occasion,’ he further added
