Itanagar, Jun 12: Marking the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour, a training and orientation programme for the Childline staff was organised on Friday here at the Tadar Taniang Hall of DBYC.
Speaking on the occasion as chief resource person, Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Likha Asha explained at length the powers and functions of CWC, how best Childline can utilize its services and also about the legal status of CWC. Earlier, Childline Director Fr. Cyriac spoke of the importance of the day and expressed concern that child labour has become endemic to Arunachal which needs to be curbed before it assumes monstrous proportions.  
He also spoke on the covert ways child labour is perpetrated even in the Capital Complex and how the government needs to deal with it with an iron hand. 
Member of CWC, Advocate Jaya Doji spoke on the role of Childline and through exposition of various case studies engaged the trainees in fruitful interaction on the effective ways of dealing with the daily cases. CWC member Advocate A.T. Tara while organizing a brain storming session on the way forward for Childline in the face of Covid-19 and related issues spoke about this year’s theme of World Day against Child Labour- ‘Covid-19: Protect children from child labour, now more than ever!’
CWC Members Ngurang Nama and Habung Gyati and State Coordinator for Human Rights Law Network, Madan Mili also participated in the day’s interactions. Childline PR
