Itanagar, Mar 13: The Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, Dharmendra, convened a joint review meeting with all the stakeholders and important office functionaries.
The Principal Secretary (Home), Director General of Police, Commissioner (Transport), Chief Electoral Officer, Secretary(Personnel), Secretary(RWD cum SNO For Expenditure Monitoring, Secretary(Planning cum SNO for MCC), IGP-cum-State Police Nodal Officer, DIG (Election), Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Nirvachan Bhawan and Commissioner(Tax and Excise) attended the review meeting in the conference hall of Chief Secretary, Civil Secretariat, Itanagar, to take stock of the Election Preparedness in the State.
The Chair sent out a strong message to all stakeholders to take up their assigned roles with sincerity and any loophole in the process will not be tolerated. The Government employees who violate CCS rules and engage in the political activities would be dealt with strict action. The Chief Secretary urged the CEO and DGP to ensure cent percent deposition of licensed firearms on the onset of MCC and cancellation of licensee if failed to deposit the same. Digital technology/ electronic Surveillance to be implemented in bonded warehouses to regulate and mitigate pilferage of liquor from the state of Arunachal. The CS also asked the concerned officer to issue order for an integrated Check post comprising of Departments of Police, forest and Tax and Excise.
The Chief Electoral Officer, Pawan Kumar Sain, gave a comprehensive overview of all important aspects of Poll Preparedness in the state through a powerpoint presentation. A total of 2226 Polling Stations are Poll ready across the state of Arunachal with a total of 8,82,816 registered voters. He informed that DCs and SPs are working in tandem and in a length of just two months, managed to seized a total of Rs 4.28 crore of liquor, drugs, cash etc and 688 nos of illegal firearms, 250 nos of ammunitions, 2888 preventive cases compared to the total seizure of Rs 6.26 crores of liquor and cash, 1206 cases of preventive action during 2019 election.
DIG, Vijay Kumar, IPS, also presented power point covering the vital plan of police deployment for the upcoming Election. He further apprised that the round of trainings of the Police personnel are being conducted and exploring all the shadow areas connection through various forms of communications.
