PASIGHAT, May 5:The sanitation wing holds the highest public importance and is the backbone of the Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC), stated the Chief Councilor Kaling Doruk while attending the “Fortnightly Swachchta Drive cum Felicitation program”, here today at the PMC conference hall.  

Doruk said, sanitary staffers attend and redress complaints of general public of the densely populated city like Pasighat every day with limited resources and ensure clean, hygienic and pollution free environment to the general public. He mentioned about the significance of cleanliness and observing the said drive and praised the untiring efforts of MEO A.Koyu, councilors, officers and staff for successfully observing the drive under Swachch Bharat Mission (SBM). PMC would carry-out various cleanliness and sensitization programs in the township and reach out to the common citizens with the message of cleanliness and its benefits during the fortnightly drive. 

In order to make ‘Swachhata’ a habit and a part of our daily lives, he appealed the municipal officers and staffers to dedicate their best efforts raising public awareness on cleanliness, putting common citizens at the forefront of the drive. He expressed hope that denizens would play an active role in this drive going forward and turn it into a mass movement. Doruk and other dignitaries present in the function tied friendship-bands and distributed safety kits to the sanitary staff and participated in the ‘BadaKhana’ (community lunch) organized by PMC as per instruction of the government. 

MEO A. Koyu presented a brief report on cleanliness and preventive measures and called for a change in lifestyle to reduce environmental pollution. 

District Vector Borne Control Officer Dr. T. Riso delivered lecture on vector borne diseases and its control while senior pathologist Dr. Kaling Jerang focused on safety measures.

 The event also saw participation of PMC Dy. Chief Councilor Kaling Darang and Member Secretary Tani Taloh (ATP) who also spoke and shared their suggestions on the occasion.
