PASIGHAT, Mar 25: In the wake of rumour circulating on various WhatsApp groups claiming that one Akash Sharma of Pasighat Bazar who returned from Chennai had purportedly tested Covid-19 positive, the District Surveillance Officer of East Siang has clarified that it’s totally false and baseless.
"No one should spread wrong message in society and will be booked under appropriate law. Any persecution will not be tolerated", Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh said in an effort to stem such rumour mongering.
To make sure that there remains no room for these kind of rumours to flourish, it has once more been reminded to the citizens by the District Administration that as per the standard operating procedure, all those returning from the infected states are being subjected to a mandatory home quarantine for at least 14 days, wherein the person quarantined is advised to maintain social distancing from rest of the family members and remain confined within his or her home. It has also been advised to report to the nearest health facility in case of development of symptoms like fever, cough and breathing difficulty. Every quarantined house will be pasted with a notice that the home is being quarantined and unwanted visits are restricted.
It has further been made clear that all currently under home quarantine after returning from the infected states are not Covid-19 patients and are only ‘suspects’ in terms of medical yardsticks. As such, appeal has been made to the general public that pasting of quarantine notice should not be understood as Covid-19 positive and restricted movement of the home quarantined person(s) within their locality is the task of the hour.
On behalf of administration, it has further been stated that if any quarantined person is seen mixing in public or found loitering outside the quarantined house, information can be passed on to the District Control Room over 8794837994  or 0368-2222253  for follow-up legal action.
